Mayor Fischer Says The Derby And State Fair Will Be ‘Reconsidered’ If Cases Get ‘Out Of Control’

Preparations for safety are taking place for the Kentucky State Fair and the Kentucky Derby, but Mayor Greg Fischer says they will be “reconsidered” if positive tests reach 10%. As it stands now, 7.5% of people who take a COVID-19 test are positive, up from 5.5%.

Health officials said contract tracing has traced many cases back to people who have attended gatherings or house parties with friends. “If you’re planning on having a house party or going to party…I would ask you to please postpone it,” Fischer said. The Oldham County Fair is now underway. Here’s what to expect there.
