Lizzo is getting salty and hitting back at some songwriters claiming they deserve credit for helping to write ‘Truth Hurts’, and she throws some serious shade at them. She DOES, however, concede to giving credit to the person behind a tweet she saw that inspired the first line.
Singer Mina Lioness was the first to come out and claim she was responsible for the “DNA test” line. In February 2018, Lioness and Lizzo exchanged tweets, in which Lioness claimed that the meme Lizzo saw was drawn from a February 2017 tweet of hers that read, “I did a DNA test and found out I’m 100% that bitch.” At the time, Lizzo says she never saw Lioness’ tweet, but that she saw the meme inspired by that. So now she’s giving a songwriting credit to Lioness for that line.
I just took a DNA Test, turns out I’m a credited writer for the number one song on Billboard.
The others claiming some songwriting stake for that line are brothers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, who collaborated with Lizzo on another one of her songs called, “Healthy”, in which that line is in there. So they feel like they should get credit because it ended up in ‘Truth Hurts.’
