Kentucky Derby is Officially the 2nd Leg of the Triple Crown; Belmont to Race June 20

This is the first time the Belmont will serve as the first leg of the Triple Crown. This year’s race also will be run without spectators in the stands.

Additionally, this year’s Belmont Stakes will be shorter. Instead of the typical 1 1/2 mile race, this year’s length will be 1 1/8 miles.
