Lil Nas X Just Won A Country Music Award

Lil Nas X picked up the first of what will undoubtedly be countless awards for “Old Town Road” at Wednesday’s Country Music Awards.

The record-breaking collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus won the CMA’s Musical Event of the Year award. Reacting to the win, Lil Nas X tweeted, “LET’S GOOOOOOOO!!!!!”

In case you were in deep space or trapped in a cave all summer, “Old Town Road” was the hit of 2019, breaking Billboard records in all genres by holding onto the number one spot for an incredible 19 weeks.

If “Old Town Road” featured a second country star instead of Lil Nas X, would it even be considered a “pop” song?
