It’s the loudest bird… in the world.

The male white bellbird has just earned the title of being the loudest bird on the planet. Scientists measured the Brazilian bird’s shriek at 125.4 decibels, slightly higher than your typical rock concert (120) but a bit lower than an air raid siren (130).

The white bellbird is a pretty small bird, about the size of a dove and weighing maybe half a pound. The trick, apparently, is their birdie six-packs: The birds have well-developed abdominal muscles and ribs.
