ABC’s “American Idol” got clobbered by NBC’s “The Voice” in the ratings on Monday… and even lost viewers since last week.
Some are blaming the sexual misconduct allegations against “Idol” emcee Ryan Seacrest. Some say it’s the drama surrounding Katy Perry. She is battling some bad publicity over a legal battle with some elderly nuns over a convent Perry wants to convert into a luxury estate.
“Idol” drew 7.7 million viewers on Monday night, while “The Voice” picked up 10.7 million to win the night in a landslide. “Idol” also dropped about 11 percent compared with last week.
ABC’s version of “Idol” is being criticized as “fakey” and “Disneyfied” because the judges aren’t “teeing off” on weak contestants, which used to be a hallmark of the show.
