A poll looked at the most popular Thanksgiving side dish in all 50 states. And a few of these are surprising.
- Mashed potatoes. They’re #1 in 14 states. Almost all west of the Mississippi.
- Stuffing or dressing. 12 states, all scattered across the country.
- Mac-and-cheese with eight. It’s especially popular in the South.
- Green bean casserole. Six states, mostly in the Midwest.
- Sweet potato casserole, three states. Kansas, Mississippi, and Georgia.
- Corn casserole, two. Kentucky and West Virginia.
- Creamed spinach, two states. Massachusetts and Connecticut.
- Deviled eggs, two states. Indiana and Alabama.
- Cranberry sauce. It’s #1 in Wyoming.
They also looked at each state’s favorite pie. Pumpkin dominates with 38 states. Apple is next with seven, and pecan with five.
