Over 15,500 names were submitted and the votes have been tallied in the Elephant Calf Naming Contest. The Zoo and Norton Children’s heart transplant recipient 23-month-old Eli Alexander revealed the winning name Tuesday at 1:00pm at the Louisville Zoo. It was down to Fitz, Rocket and Walt…and the winning name was Fitz!
The person who submitted the winning name will receive a behind-the-scenes tour with five guests to meet the calf and his mother, Mikki; a prize basket with merchandise from the zoo and Norton Children’s Hospital, and a Comfy Cow gift certificate.
Mikki and the calf are on exhibit daily at the zoo from 10 a.m. to noon.
