Mean Gene Okerlund, the man who brought professional wrestling to life with his electrifying interviews, has passed away at the age of 76.

This afternoon at approximately 1:45 local time, we learned that sports entertainment legend and former wrestler ‘Mean” Gene Okerlund had passed away at the age of 76. The actual cause of death is unknown at this time. Gene has battled health problems in the past and has been subjected to two kidney transplants.

Okerlund was loved like no other in the circle of professional wrestlers. He spent the better portion of his career helping wrestlers develop their characters and further their careers. He remains revered by everyone he ever came in contact with as can be seen by the slew of tributes pouring in.
