Teen Donates Two Feet Of Hair After Growing It For Six Years
A ninth grader in Rhode Island named Emilio Santana just got his first haircut in six years to donate it to sick kids who need wigs. He’d been growing it out since the third grade. It went to a charity called Hair We Share that makes wigs for sick kids at no charge.

Why did he decide to do that? Emilio said, “A little girl at the beach was going to the water and took her hat off, and her hair went with it. You could see she was sad and felt embarrassment, and that kind of just stuck with me.” “Knowing how big of a part that could play in somebody else’s life and bring joy to them, it made me want to take action.”
And maintaining that kind of hair was challenging as a wrestler, he often had to secure it away in buns and braids. But it still wasn’t easy letting it go: “I shed a few tears, but I just knew that I was doing this for a good reason and that this would make somebody happy.” What an amazing selfless example!
