Tate McRae On Being Compared To Britney Spears
The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Tate McRae at the 2024 VMAs and asked about her thoughts on being compared to Britney Spears. In fact, back in May, Britney Spears interviewed her herself for V Magazine.
Here’s what Tate said about the comparison at the VMAs:
I mean I honestly take it as a compliment. I think she’s one of the most incredible performers of the 2000s. I remember watching her as a kid all the time. And I just feel very lucky that she’s seen my performances and knows my music. It feels crazy and very surreal.
Tate was wearing an a lacy black ensemble that seemed to pay homage to what Britney wore to the VMAs back in 2001.

Tate wasn’t the only one channeling throwback Britney moments though. Sabrina Carpenter had Britney vibes during her mashup performance. Megan Thee Stallion hosted the VMAs and at one point donned Britney’s famous look featuring snakes from “I’m A Slave 4 U.”
