Shawn Mendes FaceTimes A Fan Who Couldn’t Make It To His Show

Giovanna Santos was supposed to celebrate her 16th birthday at the Shawn Mendes concert in Miami on July 28.  But that couldn’t happen because she’s in the hospital awaiting a new heart.

She has been at the hospital after going into cardiac arrest following a vomiting episode four months ago, and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, which means her heart isn’t pumping blood as it should. She now needs a heart transplant.

Doctors and nurses helped her make a video to send to Shawn and it got his attention!  She got a FaceTime call and some swag autographed by him.

“Hi, darling. How are you?” asked Mendes.

“Hi! I’m good,” she said.

“You’re going to Brazil, right?” asked Giovanna.

“Yeah,” Mendes said.

“Hopefully, I’ll go,” she said.

“OK. I hope you can go, too,” he said.

“I love you so much, OK?” said Mendes.

“I love you. Thanks,” said Giovanna.
