Public Pools Can Reopen June 29th With These Restrictions

Public pools in Kentucky got the greenlight to reopen June 29th if they comply with the state’s ‘Healthy at Work’ requirements.

Those include:

  • Eliminating all waiting areas.
  • Guests will be encouraged to bring their own chairs.
  • Frequently touched surfaces must be repeatedly cleaned.
  • Maintaining social distancing requirements in and around the pool.

To figure out capacity for pools, officials need to take the water surface area and divide the value by 36 square feet. The resulting number is the maximum pool capacity. For instance, a 2,000 square foot pool would have a capacity of 55 people (2000/36 = 55.5) Chairs will also need to remain 6 feet apart.

These requirements apply to pools in communities, subdivisions, apartment complexes, condominiums, clubs, camps, schools, institutions, parks, mobile home parks, hotels and recreational areas.
