Movie theaters have taken a massive hit since first closing almost a year ago due to the coronavirus pandemic. And even though many opened over the summer, theaters have still struggled to get people in the seats because major movie studios pushed back release dates or offered streaming early.
Black Widow and No Time to Die have faced numerous release changes but studios are determined to still give them theater debuts. But a new poll says nearly 50% of people asked say they feel ready to get back in theaters. As of now 47% of 5,900 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada are open. Mississippi and Utah lead in the most open states with 80%, followed by Arizona with 77% and Alabama and Georgia at 70%.
The Croods: A New Age just spent its fifth week at No. 1 in its 13 weeks since release, inching closer to becoming the top-grossing film of the pandemic. It crossed the $50 million mark this weekend.
