Ariana Grande has been nominated for 10 awards at the 2019 MTV VMAs, including Video of the Year for “Thank U, Next,” but unfortunately, she’s unable to attend the annual show.

Grande responded to a fan on Twitter Tuesday saying that she’ll likely have to miss because she has “Sweetener” shows the night before and after, and now a source exclusively tells Page Six that her absence makes it tough for her to win the night’s biggest award.

“MTV likes to give awards to bodies in the building,” a source said. “I think MTV is in a tough spot,” the source continued, noting Grande’s success and streaming numbers blow away much of her competition.

In the Video of the Year category, the 26-year-old pop star is facing off against Taylor Swift, 21 Savage feat. J. Cole, Billie Eilish, Jonas Brothers, and Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus. She’s also up for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.
