Congratulations to Lewis Capaldi who is the first Scottish solo artist to go number one in the United States since Sheena Easton’s 1981 hit “Morning Train” for the 9 to 5 soundtrack.

Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” has taken 24 weeks to reach the top of the U.S. charts, where he dethroned Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.”

“I feel like I’m a wrestler, and I’m just walking out [to the ring] and there’s an American flag, and I’m saying, ‘USA! USA!’” Capaldi told Billboard Magazine.

Capaldi celebrated the achievement by painting his face like an American flag and tweeted pictures with a caption that read, “Someone You Loved is the number one song in the USA.” he then signed the tweet “America’s Sweetheart.”
