Lewis Capaldi Scores First US Number One With ‘Someone You Loved’
Congratulations to Lewis Capaldi who is the first Scottish solo artist to go number one in the United States since Sheena Easton’s 1981 hit “Morning Train” for the 9 to 5 soundtrack.
Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” has taken 24 weeks to reach the top of the U.S. charts, where he dethroned Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.”
“I feel like I’m a wrestler, and I’m just walking out [to the ring] and there’s an American flag, and I’m saying, ‘USA! USA!’” Capaldi told Billboard Magazine.

Capaldi celebrated the achievement by painting his face like an American flag and tweeted pictures with a caption that read, “Someone You Loved is the number one song in the USA.” he then signed the tweet “America’s Sweetheart.”
