Oh SNAP! Facebook and Instagram are going to be watching how you’re using certain emojis like eggplant, peach, and water drips…and will shut it down if you use them in a sexual way.

The new guidelines say that they cannot be used to describe sexual activity and nude body parts can’t be covered up with the symbols.  Since the new rules dropped, both sites are taking heat for being concerned about the hidden meanings of emojis rather than the propaganda or fake news on their sites.

The emojis can still be used in captions, but not in a manner that suggests anything sassy.  If they deem your post in violation of that, they may take down the post or deactivate your account.

That said, more than 350 new emojis were approved earlier this year and have now been released to Apple users. The new crop includes gender-neutral characters and people with disabilities. You can now also select the ethnicity of each character in the ‘holding hands’ emoji. Oh…and the new drop of blood emoji is meant to represent menstruation. That’s great.
