With early voting underway in several states, it’s important to know the specific rules in your state to cast your ballot before Election Day!

Almost every state offers early voting options, but the start dates, lengths, and methods vary. Some states only allow early voting for residents with approved excuses, while others offer in-person early voting or all-mail voting. We have a breakdown of Kentucky and Indiana’s early voting process to ensure you can participate in the election. Early voting has gained popularity, with around 70% of voters in the 2020 presidential race casting their ballots before Election Day.

Kentucky

  • Last Day to register to vote is Monday, October 7, 2024: Register Online by 4pm local time. Mailed Registration Cards can be Postmarked on 10/7 to be accepted. Cards taken to the Clerk’s Office can be accepted by close of business.
  • In-person absentee voting begins Oct. 31 and lasts until Nov. 2, the Saturday before Election Day.
  • Last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot is October 22, 2024, 11:59PM (local time). Voters are encouraged to request well before the deadline if they know they will be voting absentee.
  • Online portal is open to request an absentee ballot by mail. Click on THIS LINK request!
  • In-Person Election Day Voting: November 5, 2024, 6:00AM – 6:00PM, local time – In-person voting conducted.

Indiana

  • Register to vote in Indiana HERE
  • In-person absentee voting. Begins Oct. 8 and lasts until Nov. 4, the day before Election Day.
  • Indiana’s absentee-by-mail application deadline: October 24, 2024. To vote absentee-by-mail in Indiana, a voter must be able to personally mark their own ballot and sign their name to the completed ballot security envelope and have a reason to request an absentee vote-by-mail ballot. To vote absentee by mail, a voter must first complete an application HERE.
  • General Election: November 5, 2024. Indiana’s polling hours on Election Day: 6:00AM —6:00PM

The most important thing is if you are of legal voting age, that you are registered to vote, you research which candidate aligns with your values and what you want to see happen, and you VOTE.
