Despite Big Stars, Quibi Gets Off To A Slow Start

Mobile-only streaming service Quibi racked up just over 300,000 downloads on its launch day.

By comparison, Disney+ had 4 million first day downloads. The service, which rolled out on Monday and stands for “quick bites,” offers slickly-produced movies and television shows by A-list talent in chunks of 10 minutes or shorter. The whole idea behind it was aimed at people who commute, use public transportation or get most of their content on mobile devices. And there are a ton of celebrities involved in series like Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Lopez, Liam Hemsworth, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, and Kendall and Kris Jenner. In all they should have 175 original programs in the first year.
