Dannielynn Birkhead Dives Into Her Famous Mom’s Past For New “20/20” Special

Dannielynn Birkhead is on a quest to learn more about her Anna Nicole Smith, who died when the now-14-year-old was just a baby. ABC News has checked in her several times as she has grown up here in Louisville. But this time, they go back to where Anna Nicole grew up for the first time.

In a new two-hour 20/20 special, airing amid the 14-year anniversary of Smith’s death, she and her dad, Larry Birkhead, go to “the most influential places in Anna Nicole’s life for the first time,” according to a press release.

That takes them to Mexia, Texas, where Smith — who died in 2007 from an accidental overdose at age 39 — grew up.
