God Bless America.

We have robot vacuums, self-driving cars and now an inventor has come up with a smart trash can that can take itself to the curb. It’s called the SmartCan and was dreamed up by Andrew Murray.

It works using a companion app, and will follow a pre-programmed schedule and automatically drive itself to a curbside drop off point on garbage pickup days, and then return itself to wherever you keep it parked the rest of the week.

You have to have a pair of docking stations for navigation, which could be problematic for those who live in areas where the city simply won’t let them install one on a public curb, or where there’s the risk of them being damaged from high foot traffic, so hopefully its creator will offer an alternative way to help them find their way. And you’ll need to charge the cans on a regular basis too.
