Ariana Grande is opening up in Vogue about her new music, saying her friends told her to get in the studio as a way to cope following Mac Miller’s death.

“My friends know how much solace music brings me, so I think it was an all-around, let’s-get-her-there type situation,” Unfortunately, memories of the sessions that led to the “Thank U, Next” album are blurry at best.

“But if I’m completely honest, I don’t remember those months of my life because I was (a) so drunk and (b) so sad,”  “I don’t really remember how it started or how it finished, or how all of a sudden there were 10 songs on the board.”

She said the album made her realize she needed to stop dating and have alone time, as she had been bouncing from relationship to relationship, including a brief engagement to Pete Davidson, which she described as an “amazing distraction” from unhealthy habits she had in L.A.
