The studio was hoping for $40 million during its first three days in theaters, and it cost $185 million to make. Does it mean it’s a bad movie? Not necessarily. It got favorable reviews and 69% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Joker benefited from Halloween and held steady at No. 2 with $14 million in its fifth weekend of release. Joker has generated a huge $299 million in North America and $934 million globally, putting it on track to clear the $1 billion mark worldwide.
