911 Dispatchers In Delaware Help Sinking Boat Off The Coast of England
Someone made an emergency call about a sinking boat off the coast of Dover, ENGLAND, but accidentally called 911 in Dover, DELAWARE instead. And the 911 operators still managed to save the day more than 3,650 miles away. The call came in from an individual in Albania who said they needed help because their brother’s boat was sinking into the English Channel off the coast of Dover, England.
Apparently the person had done a panicked internet search for the “Dover Police Department,” and thought they were calling England, but instead called first responders in Delaware, thousands of miles away. MacKenzie Atkinson answered that call and with the help of coworker, Connor, tried Google to reach the French Coast Guard or English Coast Guard, but it was a contact with the US Coast Guard that got them the right agency within 4 minutes. The French Coast Guard was on the scene within 16 minutes and rescued those on the boat!
