A street in New Orleans’ French Quarter was closed for more than 12 hours after a truck spilled 1,000 gallons of syrup onto the road.

Police say on Monday evening a container truck carrying molasses began leaking its supply onto a four-lane stretch of Rampart Street.

The street had to be closed overnight while crews cleaned the syrup from the pavement and streetcar tracks, finally opening late Tuesday morning.
