Keep Kids Safe!!!

Kosair Children’s Hospital is reminding you now that hot weather is here this week to avoid leaving kids in hot cars…not even for a minute. A recent study reported by Safe Kids Worldwide found that 14 percent of parents have left a child alone in a parked vehicle. Last year alone, there were 44 deaths from heatstroke…and 2 so far this year. The Safe Kids heatstroke awareness campaign offers up a few tips to avoid this, like keeping your car locked when you’re not in it so kids don’t get in on their own.  Create reminders by putting something on the back seat of your car next to your child, such as a briefcase, a purse or a cellphone that is needed at your final destination…especially if you’re not following your normal routine. And if you see a child alone in a car, call 911.
